Carpinteria Real Estate

Carpinteria is a city of about 13,000 residents, lying to the east of Santa Barbara and northwest of Ventura. Many residents find Carpinteria real estate convenient for its proximity to both Santa Barbara and Ventura, while enjoying the slightly lower cost of real estate compared to most of South Santa Barbara County. But Carpinteria can also stand on its own as a great place to live and work. Several significant industries are present in Carpinteria, including technology businesses both large and small, oil, and agriculture.

Carpinteria boasts an incredible coastline of mostly smaller waves and wide, gently sloping beaches—perfect for families concerned about safety. Nearby tide pools offer a chance to find starfish, crabs, sea anemones, sea urchins and even octopi. Other Carpinteria attractions include the seal and sea lion rookery (populated December through May), the Santa Barbara Polo Fields, and the annual California Avocado Festival. This free, three-day festival has been celebrating everything avocados—from guacamole to avocado ice cream—for 27 years and counting.

Other Carpinteria lures include the Seaside Gardens and Island Brewing Company. Seaside Gardens has over 4 acres of nursery and botanical gardens to walk around and explore, and it is very close to the beach for a fun pre or post beach adventure. Island Brewing Company is another fun, local place to stop by when visiting or passing through Carpinteria for its award winning brews and good company.

Though the Carpinteria real estate market varies greatly in size and style, real estate in Carpinteria generally remains lower priced than comparable Santa Barbara homes and on par with Goleta real estate prices. Everything from beachfront condominiums to canyon ranches can be available in the Carpinteria area. Entry level condos in Carpinteria typically range from $185,000 to $600,000 while luxury condos, mostly beachfront or near the beach, range from $800,000 to $2.3 million. Entry level single family homes typically range from $400,000 to $900,000, while luxury beachfront and oceanfront estates start at $2 million and go up to $15 or 20 million.
