Santa Barbara Beaches
Butterfly Beach (Channel Dr. & Butterfly Lane.)
Enjoy the best location to watch the sunset in Santa Barbara. Easy viewing of the wharf and the city make this west-facing beach the place to be at sunset.
East Beach (East Cabrillo Blvd. & Milpas St.)
East Beach is one of the most popular beaches in all Santa Barbara-and with good reason. Extensive lawn areas with picnic tables, a generous number of volleyball courts, a playground area for young children, and palm trees for shade make East Beach the perfect location for a full day at the beach.
Leadbetter Beach (Shoreline & Loma Alta Dr.)
You will find families and friends at beach parties and barbecues at Leadbetter throughout the summer. It’s an excellent location for swimming and has numerous barbecue pits for cooking.
Rincon Beach (Highway 101 off Bates Rd.)
Rincon is one of the most well known surfing locations in the world, specifically for the tremendous right break. Look toward this beach off Highway 101 any morning or summer day and you will find locals enjoying this premier surf location.
West Beach (East Cabrillo Blvd.)
West beach is known to be quieter with no facilities on the beach, but is within walking distance from food. It is located between the marina and wharf, and in front of the Veteran’s Center.
Hendry’s Beach (Las Pasitas Rd & Cliff Dr)
Also known as “Dog Beach”, Hendry’s Beach is a favorite for local dog owners. From the hours of 4-8 PM on week days the parking lot is almost always full as men and women cruise over after work to take their dog for a stroll. The beach is also home of the famous Brown Pelican Restaurant which is located right on the sand. The food is good, but the true highlight of the place is the amazing views of the beach and serene water.
